Strategic Contract Management
24 Aug - 26 Aug
Tata Management Training Centre
A contract is a legally binding agreement between two or more parties agreeing to conform and commit to the terms and conditions of providing a satisfactory level of service and/or a quality product. While traditionally contracts are governed by legalese, they are more than that – they are about partnerships and relationship management. In today's dynamic and competitive multicultural business environment, contracts no longer rest in the domain of national boundaries - they span international territories,
bringing in complexities both legal and technical. The trend of outsourcing has further increased the number of contracts an organisation has to deal with.
Contractual relationships, if not managed well, lead to many challenges and risks – these could range from risks of litigation with financial implications, to serious reputational risk whose monetary impact cannot be
measured fully. One part of good contract management is establishing strong processes and systems. The other part is about making the contracts come 'alive', where business managers can actively use contract management as a tool to evaluate the contract and partnership from a strategic perspective, thus attaining a competitive edge.
